Beauty Tip of the Day

DREAMS AND SILK
BEAUTY TIP OF THE DAY:

Have you ever gone to bed with perfectly smooth and tamed hair
and then woken up only to find you suddenly grew a
lions mane over night?
Don't worry, you're not alone and lucky for you... I have the cure.

I recently discovered the joys of over-processed hair. After bleaching my
hair three times in one month, I returned home from my hair
stylist and realized my hair was literally falling out. Well, that's what I
thought anyways...
It turns out that it was just extremely bad breakage.
Nevertheless, I knew I had to start taking care of my hair and that
meant no blow-drying, no over-washing and no straightening.

I wanted to make sure I was doing all that I could to restore
those beautiful long locks that I once had, so I made sure I was aware of
every little thing that would hurt or benefit my hair.
While the internet was quite helpful, I learned the best
tip from my grandmother who told me that cotton pillow cases soak the
moisture and natural oils out of your hair that help keep your hair
healthy, in turn, drying it out.

Grandmothers secret cure: resting that pretty head on a silk pillow case.

Not only does the silk help retain the moisture in your hair and alleviate
split ends,  it also helps eliminate that God awful unwanted bed head
that we all know so well.

While a silk pillow case may be a bit more costly than the average
cotton pillow case, it is well worth it!
There are many different places you can purchase this hair savior.
Just search around!
I purchased mine online at Soft Surroundings for $39.95

Breakfast in Exxes and Ohhs Kitchen

The holidays are just around the corner and that means two things:
you're probably going to have a lot of out-of-town family guests staying in your
house and they're probably going to expect you to cook for them. Isn't
family just the greatest! (Chuckles...)

Today I made a delicious breakfast casserole that I'm going to
share with you and help relieve some of the stress of cooking during your holiday.
It's perfect for serving a large amount of people and the best part about it is...
It's QUICK and EASY!

Let's talk about the ingredients first. Super easy! Your base ingredients are going
to be the egg and the cheese. From there you can add in whatever fun flavors you want.
Get creative! For mine I used ortega chilies, cheese, ham, onion, a sprinkle of oregano,
and cottage cheese (I know...sounds weird, but it's super yummy). These were
just the ingredients that I had in my refrigerator. Some other possible ingredient options
are tomato, spinach, bell peppers, olives, basil, potatoes, bacon, etc.

I estimated the amount of each my ingredients to my liking. I used:
5 eggs
1 (18 oz.) carton of egg substitute
1 1/2 cup shredded cheese
1 cup ham (chopped)
1 small can (4oz.) ortega chilies
1/2 of a large onion (chopped)
A dash of oregano

Once you have chosen your ingredients, beat the eggs in a large mixing bowl.
Mix in all ingredients and stir until all ingredients are mixed in.

Pour egg mixture into an oven dish of your preference. I used a shallow circular
casserole dish. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Bake casserole for 25-35 minutes.
Allow eggs to firmly set and top to get golden brown.
When done cooking, let it sit for 10-15 minutes to cool.

Voila, here is the finished product! Serve with some fresh fruit, coffee and orange juice
and your out-of-towner's will be coming back for more next year.
Uh-oh.... Good luck ;)

Enjoy!

The Blurred Lines Between Gatsby, Miley, Robin Thicke and Katy Perry

With Halloween around the corner, we all have some pretty big decisions to make. What should I dress up as? Should I cross over to the scandalous side and pick something like the traditional naughty nurse? Or, should I stick with the pretty make-up and hair and be the famous celebrity that I wish I was in real life? What party should I attend? Is there even a party to attend? My invitation must have gotten lost in the mail.. What is everyone else going to be? Should I make my costume or should I buy it online? What if I show up the party in the exact same costume as someone else?

.A W K W A R D.

On second though, maybe I better make my costume.

Let's make sure this doesn't happen by discussing trending Halloween costumes this year.
WARNING: While the following costumes are trending, you should probably stray away from purchasing them this year.. Unless you would like to have that awkward moment when you open the door and your Miley twin is starring back at you with "B***h you stole costume, leave now" eyes.

2013 Trending Halloween Costumes:

See, sold out online already. That means every Halloween party is going to have at least five Miley's running around. So leave the Miley Onesie at home and get creative.
Good luck my fellow X&O lovers.

Outfit of the Day: The Pumpkin Latte Collection

Hello all-- I just completed my first style board on Polyvore. That website is absolutely amazing
and is every fashionistas dream. I was up bright and early this morning trying to put
together a few trending fall outfits for you guys. I titled this collection "Pumpkin Latte."
The color scheme is dead-on when I imagine fall colors and since pumpkin lattes
are basically the greatest gift to mankind during fall, it seemed like a perfect fit.

The style board basically already says its all, but girls, if you do not already own a pair of
ankle booties, you need to run to the mall and pick up a pair TOMORROW!
They are the hottest item this season and are so versatile. I know us girls love this
saying: "Dress em' up or dress em' down!" Wear them with your favorite pair of denims
and a flannel -OR- pair them with some feisty leather pants and rock them on a night
out on the town with your best gals!
